Book Three
As terrorists try to get their hands on the organism on this side, the only defense against the fever is in the blood of people who survived it, and every one of them lived nineteen centuries ago. Ray goes back, this time to Masada under siege, to find the Roman soldier who killed a man Ray buried and ask him for his blood.

Every window opens to the hour and closes to the hour, and Ray has never trusted a number that tidy. His search leads him to a traveling physician who is writing the Third Gospel, and who may know more about the fever than anyone alive.
